It turns out Jason doesn't need a visa after all! He went to get it and they said that since he will only be there three months, we're off the hook. He called them twice to verify and is getting it in writing, just to make sure there are no problems once we get to London.
I am so happy. Not only because now we don't have to worry about getting it back in time but also because I was wary about traveling next week without it. On the train, they compare your passport with the name on the ticket and they always ask for it at hotels. Plus, we save the money it would have cost. It was less than our Indian visas but still a fair chunk of change plus with the exchange rate, we need all the rupees we can save.
