Restaurant Adventure

Last week, Thursday I think, American John invited a few of us over to his new apartment to see it, meet the carpenters and just kind of hang out. That sounded like fun to us but Jason suggested we all go out to dinner instead. So we met at John's place so we could still see it and meet the carpenters and from there got two rickshaws (with five of us plus Anna there was no way we were going to fit into one) and went out in search of Barbecue Nation (Vernell needed meat).

We thought it was on Satellite Road near the intersection with SG Highway. So we had the drivers take us there and drop us off at the intersection and we thought we would just walk until we found it. So we started walking. After a little bit and farther than we were expecting, we walked by a hotel and sent Indian John (yeah, two Johns, Indian John is from here but has lived in the US for a number of years and is relocating here to be closer to his mother who is getting older) in to see if he could find a phone book or ask someone to see if they knew where it was. No luck. So we kept going.

Once we got as far as the next cross street we realized that maybe it wasn't on that road. So instead we decided to ditch that restaurant and go to an Italian place that we knew where it was. Rather than walk all the way back we hopped two more rickshaws and went. The pasta was a little spicy. Apparently even the Italian food is a little bit Indian-fied. The bruscetta was really good. Although it was late, Anna had a lot of fun playing on the bench. I think she was getting a little bit giddy.

After all of this, we looked up exactly where Barbecue Nation was before heading out on Sunday to eat there. It was on a completely different road.
