Walking Tour

Almost two weeks ago now, we went on a walking tour of downtown Ahmedabad. I know it's been a while but we only just took the pictures off the camera. It was a lot of fun. We were in a group of maybe a dozen people, mostly foreigners (although there were a couple of Indians). There were a few French people there and they had an interpreter for what the guide said into French. We walked a total of 1.5 km and saw parts of downtown that we would never have seen otherwise. It was really cool.

This is the interior of one of the many houses we walked by. We did a lot of walking around in neighborhoods called pols. This house has a distinctly European influence.

Inside the dome of a Jain temple. This was the second Jain temple we visited, we weren't allowed to take pictures in the first one which is too bad because it was lovely.

This was a tomb that reminded us a lot of the other tomb/mosque that we visited a little while ago.


Here is the entrance to another Mosque. It was huge with a large courtyard (this is inside the courtyard) and a pool in the middle of the courtyard. This one was really cool with a separate place for the women to pray.


Here is the inside of that mosque. They are really into columns.
